Fantastic. What exactly is Loofah?? Check this out!

Recipe: Shrimp and Loofah Soup (鲜虾丝瓜汤) Second year of medical school officially started this Monday for me! I still can’t believe that I’ve made it this far, haha. I just wanted to make this quick recipe post to commemorate the beginning of this school year as well as the end of summer…. a summer which has been, overall, pretty epic and pretty darn good. Monday started off with an early 8 am (th … Read More

Holiday Recipes via Oyster Evangelist

Check out the Oyster Evangelist for some serious inspiration for this year’s Holiday feasts. She features some fantastic recipes from Cooks Illustrated. Her imagery on her blog will make you MELT!

“Take the pumpkin pie. Who doesn’t already have a recipe? Well, in reading the article that goes along with the recipe, I learned that most of the pumpkin pies I’ve ever eaten have had a somewhat grainy texture. It struck me as a relatively minor issue until I had the Cook’s Illustrate version to compare…” View the rest clicking the link to her site, below!

Views of Johannesburg from Langeman’s Kop (via )

My favorite part– the different colored roofs :)

Views of Johannesburg from Langeman's Kop Finding new bits of one’s home city to explore is always a very rewarding experience. A few days ago I found myself atop Langeman’s Kop, a koppie that rises in the suburb of Kensington, and of which I had never heard until a few days prior when Joburg Photowalkers announced a sunrise walk on the koppie … Read More

Kim’s Pumpkin Soup (via Heart Spoon)

Kim's Pumpkin Soup Last month’s cooking club was hosted by the lovely Kim, our lone vegetarian. One of my favorite cooking club conversations occurred thanks to her eating habits, (plus a few glasses of wine and some sheer honesty). Bianca: “Kim. To be honest, I didn’t know if I’d like you after I heard we had a vegetarian in the club. But I really do. You are fantastic.” Kim: “Thanks, Bianca. I’m happy I changed your mind.” Appropriately enough, her theme was a ve … Read More

The Chocolatiest Birthday Cake (via Dinner & Dessert)

Gorgeous. Just, gorgeous.

The Chocolatiest Birthday Cake I turned 24 on January 9, and wanted to make a cake to celebrate.  (Yes I made my own :))  I knew it had to be chocolate, and I’ve had my eye on this Chocolate Intensity Cake for a while now.  The Daring Bakers made this cake in February 2007 and gave it rave reviews about how rich it was.  Perfect! I am one of those people who has a high tolerance for rich desserts.  I’ve never had to stop eating something because it is “too rich.”  I remember t … Read More

This is what Heaven tastes like: Dark Chocolate & Raspberry Buttercream Cake with Ganache Drizzle

There are some people, I just want to marry, that’s the only way I can explain it. Like this lady. She makes the most beautiful, lovely cakes I think I have ever seen.

This is one of the most beautiful cakes I have ever laid eyes upon.

All I can say is, "Wow."

One day, I will make this, and I will understand what heaven tastes like. :)

Phillipe The Original (via Zestful Lou)

Have to try this place… it’s on my list! Anyone have any other thoughts of obligatory places I need to experience while I’m here in L.A.???

Tell me what you think!

Phillipe The Original I got to cross another “to-do” off my bucket list today.  My bucket list is far too long to share all of it with you right now, but I will share this experience. Travis and I made the short drive into Los Angeles today to eat at Phillipe the Original. It’s an institution here in L.A., serving french dipped sandwiches since 1908. My … Read More
